ABSTRACT
Picralima nitida is a seed bearing tree whose dried seeds are used in traditional medicines throughout medicine throughout West Africa , particularly in Ghana , Ivory Coast and Nigeria, with many untapped properties and usefulness. There is a paucity of information on the toxicity of the fruit pulp of picralima nitidauseaproper. This study was carried out to evaluate the acute and subchorionic toxicity of the unripe fruit pulp aqueous extract . Toxicity studies (phase I) and LD50 (phase II) was carried out. The results revealed that the extract wasn't toxic and hereby safe for consumption.
