ABSTRACT
This study was designed to assess the Misconceptions students encounter on the biology topic "Cell division". In other to effectively carry out this, three research questions were formulated to guide the study. The study used two senior secondary classes, SS1 A&B in Oba Ewuare Grammar School, Gapiona, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, with a total of (70) Seventy Students. Correlation research design was used and data collected was analysed statistically using percentage and frequency. The result of the findings reveal that students have Misconceptions on the topic Cell division. The effective teaching methods of clearing these misconceptions was recommended as well as the ineffective teaching methods. It was also recommended that curriculum planners should ensure that the objective in curriculum indicate the student's Misconceptions in topics like Cell division are identified and stated as part of the teachers Lesson Note and Lesson Plan.
