ABSTRACT
The study assessed state employment and expenditure for results (SEEFOR) project for socio-economic development in Edo State. Four research questions were raised to guide the study and one null hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance for the study. The sample of the study was 159 respondents out of the infinite number of respondents in urban and rural communities of Edo State using accidental sampling technique. The descriptive survey research design was used for this study. The instrument used was validated by three experts.Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to compute reliability of the instrument which yielded correlation coefficient of 0.73.Questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The t-test was used to test the hypothesis. From the results of the analysis, it was discovered that the SEEFOR projects for the socio-economic development of Edo State are in area of youth employment through road cleaning/sweeping, provision of classrooms, road maintenance/public works contracts and refuse management. Urban and rural respondents did not differ significantly in their rating on the extent of SEEFOR for socio-economic development in Edo State hence the null hypothesis acceptance. Consequently, it was recommended that government at all levels should always pay their counterpart funding arrangement so as to ensure smooth running of the SEEFOR project. Community heads should collaborate with the SEEFOR project team in the protection and supervision of projects been carried out in their locality. Furthermore, graduates participation in SEEFOR project should be improve through inclusiveness and incentives. Finally, recommendations were made for further studies such as determinants influencing the Implementation of SEEFOR.
