ABSTRACT
The problem of waste management is a primordial and present issue in developing countries in Africa, particularly Nigeria. Municipal waste management problems in Nigeria cut across concerns for human health, air, water, and land pollution among others. Lack of ideas of the methods involved in the management of solid wastes has caused so many problems especially in disease control and management. This study was aimed to assess the source reduction towards a sustainable solid waste management in the Olusegun Agagun University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Ondo State. Investigation was conducted by means of questionnaires to define the waste policies that were applied in the institution and the willingness of members to apply these policies in the management of the waste generated in the school. The willingness was conducted by the application of theory of planned behaviour and multi criterial decision analysis by the use of analytic hierarchy process (AHP).
