ABSTRACT
One of the major problems confronting Benin-city today is poor solid waste management practice. In spite of the efforts made by the government to address the problem , there has been no remarkable solution. This study centered on the assessment of solid waste management in the study area. In order to effectively carryout the project hypothesis were postulated. A sample size of 144 respondents from different corners of the study area was used while random sampling techniques were used in administering questionnaires. Data collected were presented informs of tables. Hence , the result show a significant difference of solid waste disposal strategies and management practice amongst residents of the study area Although some findings revealed some deleterious effects on both human health and environment, corruption and inconsistencies in policies still remain the major drawbacks. However in much practical terms, it presents some recommendations in other to make the environment healthy for man.
