ABSTRACT

Risks are highest at the start of a construction project. Prior to taking any action, the principal must determine which hazards exist at each tier and how much it will cost to address them. Determining the nature of the risks involved, as well as the potential costs associated with those risks, is essential. The next step is to create effective preventative measures. The purpose of this research is to better understand the factors that might increase or decrease the likelihood of harm occurring during a building project in the state of Edo. This study had a response rate of 80%, with a total of 125 questionnaires sent out. The research relied on data from 80%, or 140 total respondents. Measures for decreasing construction project risks and their efficacy, as well as their root causes, were ranked using the Mean Item Score (MIS). The examination of risk-mitigation strategies in the construction industry found that "Application of risk management by contractor" was the most effective novel strategy. Following this is "Application of Risk Management Strategies," which is in third place, and "Development of a Contingency Plan," which is in second place. On the other hand, "Legal Understanding" ranks last. As a result, the authors conclude that risk management approaches should be adopted by construction professionals as a means of mitigating construction project risk.
