ABSTRACT

This study aims to evaluate the architectural design and functionality of relaxation centres within the University of Benin. The research focuses on how these spaces contribute to the overall well-being, productivity, and academic performance of students and staff. A number of factors are evaluated as part of the assessment, including physical comfort, sense of ownership, connection to nature, and multimodal design. The study also looks at how these factors affect mental health and learning outcomes. Findings from this research could provide valuable insights for future architectural planning and development within educational institutions, emphasising the importance of relaxation centres as integral components of the learning environment. The results could also guide policies for improving existing facilities to enhance the user experience and satisfaction. Ultimately, this study underscores the role of architecture in shaping educational experiences and outcomes.
