ABSTRACT

This study is aimed at determining the Assessment of Principal leadership Styles on the Job Performance of Business Studies Teachers in Public Junior Secondary Schools in Ovia-North East in Edo State. The targeted population was all business studies teachers in Ovia-North East and a total sample size of 52 respondents was used for the study. Two research questions were formulated to guide the study, a descriptive survey research design was adopted and structured questionnaire made up to (30) items was used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by two lecturers and a supervisor in the department of Vocational and Technical Education. The data collected from the administered was analyzed using mean and standard deviation (SD).From the result of the findings revealed that there is a positive influence of principals' leadership Styles on task performance. The findings further revealed that there is a positive influence of principals' leadership style on contextual performance of Business Studies teachers' in Ovia-North East. From the above findings, conclusions were drawn and some recommendations were made which include principals should employ and vary diverse leadership styles to suit different situations as the needs arise.
