ABSTRACT
Patients’ satisfaction is the extent to which patients are happy with their healthcare, both inside and outside of the doctor's office. The goal of every eye clinic is to model an optometric practice which centers on meeting the ever increasing eye care needs of her patients. However, for teaching eye clinics, an excellent understanding of patient satisfaction towards clinical student consultations is imperative as they strive to model an efficient optometric practice which incorporates teaching with a quality patient care. A survey was done to evaluate patient satisfaction among eighty eight (88) adults who had their eye examination at the University of Benin Optometry Eye Clinic. The result revealed that majority of the patients rated the care as good (92%) and (75%) reported being happy to have students involvement again (p<0.05). Also patients of the Fifth-year students were reportedly happier for future students’ involvement than the patients of the Sixth-year students. Patients’ age influences their level of satisfaction, but patients’ sex did not influence their level of satisfaction. However, the patients were concerned about the time spent on examination. Time spent on examination needs to be reduced without compromising on quality of service rendered.
