ABSTRACT

The research looks at the limitations of the biology curriculum's implementation in Edo State's Egor Local Government Area. Four research questions served as the study's compass, and a descriptive research design—which collects data using a questionnaire—was used to gather information.

Teachers from both public and private schools in Edo State's Egor Local Government Area made up the study's population. Fifty (50) instructors made up the study's sample. The data gathered to address the study topic was analyzed using frequency counts and percentages, yielding a dependability coefficient score of 0.80.

The results showed that some of the implementation constraints of the biology curriculum in secondary schools are related to instructional materials, biology teachers, facilities, and class size. The overall conducive environment of the classroom, well-equipped laboratory facilities, and adequately furnished classroom are the main factors that differ in the implementation constraints of the biology curriculum between public and private schools. The other factors that differ in the implementation constraints of the biology curriculum in secondary schools based on the sex of the teacher are the biology teacher's adequate qualification and certification, the students' participation in the classroom, and the teaching methods. The management should make sure that only qualified individuals with degrees in educational programs are employed in the educational system, and biology teachers should frequently use the available instructional materials to teach and learn biology. It was suggested that a better staffing policy be established in order to meet the growing needs of the school.
