ABSTRACT
The study was picked because of the Food Insecurity in the chosen population. This study examined the Assessment of Food Security at the Household Level in Oredo Local Government Area: Limitations to Home Economics. This research, conducted in the University of Benin, assessed how food security is assessed in households in the given population, it stated its factors, impact, influence of food security in households and provided solutions to the challenges involving it and its limitations to Home Economics.
The study surveyed 100 households in Oredo Local Government Area. Three (3) research questions were raised to guide the study. Questionnaire was used as survey research design to conduct the research and gather information concerning it. The instrument was validated, and subjected to Cronbach’s Alpha reliability co-efficient, and a reliability index of 0.713 was obtained. Simple Percentage, Mean and Standard Deviation were used to analyze the data.
The findings from the study showed that Food security is important to ensure the good health of households and to make sure they have access to good, safe and nutritious food. It is recommended that households in Oredo Local Government ensure that food insecurity is avoided. It stated ways of ensuring that these households to not come into any danger while in contact with food.
