ABSTRACT
The study started with an introduction to the concept of radio frequency radiation. It also highlighted various sources of the emission. Measurement of the Power density from a base transceiver station (BTS) was measured. Although measurements were influenced by unavoidable factors, values were found to be below the standard limit (4.5W/m2 for 900MHz and 9W/m2 for 18000MHz) set by the International 61 Commission on Non-ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and other regulatory agencies. The performance Evaluation of BTS Radiation around the University of Benin (UNIBEN) done with the GQ EMF-390 EMF Multi-Field/Multi-Function Meter and other instrument to calculate and measured the value of radiation from BTS respectively through power density at several distance from BTS for at a particular BTS site, and we found that the average values recorded are the best from accuracy point of view and we Can say that this BTS and possibly others, are safe for use.
