ASSESSMENT OF DIGITAL SWITCH-OVER COMPLIANCE BY DELTA RADIO TELEVISION (DRTV) WARRI, DELTA STATE NIGERIA

ABSTRACT

The study assessed Digital Switch-over Compliance by Delta Radio television (DRTV) Warri, Delta State Nigeria. The main objective of the study was to ascertain the level of awareness and readiness of DRTV in the digital migration process.  The study adopted census survey as well as interview as methods to sample the opinion of both management and employees on the issue investigated. Purposive sampling technique was used while the Diffusion of Innovations and Technological Acceptance Model(TAM) were the theoretical constructs. Findings of the study revealed that staff and Management of DRTV, Warri are aware of Digital switchover and migration, but challenges such as lack of finance, poor policy implementation, lack of skilled manpower, lack of equipment and lack of political will. The study thereby recommend among many other things that; Delta state government should address the issue of funding to ensure the smooth take-off of digital broadcasting in the state. Other issues to be addressed include policy implementation, manpower training and equipment supply.
