ABSTRACT
With the increased use of computers in schools, it should come as no surprise that schools are quickly beginning to see the incredible potential of connecting those computers together. The opportunities a computer network in schools, most especially at the university level can provide for administrators, lecturers and students are immense and are beginning to be realized across the nation. Assessing the use computer network technology among undergraduate students helps to determine how students of the university benefits from this technology and how it influences learning. Schools use computer network technology to communicate, create, distribute, store and manage information. Undergraduate students are informed and trained digitally by providing computer network tools for undergraduate students to use, these approaches can address higher thinking skills, provide creative and individualized options for students to express their understanding, and prepare students better for technological change in society and the workplace. Communication is key in successful learning and computer network technologies help to improve communication skills among undergraduate students in the university. The internet service providers (ISPs) should consider looking at the overall cost-benefit to provide and maintain the necessary network infrastructure of the university. This study, will be of help to the reader to understand the level of computer network technology in university of Benin. its is merely to assess computer network technology among undergraduate students in university of Benin, some of the unique qualities of a computer network and its importance in improving academic performance among the students. The impact of computer networking in teaching and learning processes and the difficulties in setting up a computer network technology were also discussed in this study.
