RESEARCH SUMMARY
Based on the findings in this study, the following conclusions were reached:
The biggest obstacle is the lack of awareness and knowledge and thus people in Ugbowo need to be educated and informed about climate change. To do this, awareness has to start from the average citizen on the streets. Climate change concepts should be explained to the Nigerian citizens starting from the smallest areas to the big cities.
Majority of Nigerians have very poor knowledge of the causes, effects and counteractive measures of climate change. This therefore calls on all levels of government in Nigeria to accelerate, public enlightenment on climate change via media like televisions, radios and printed materials such as newsletters, newspapers, bill boards, journals and textbooks. We have the power to address its root causes and limit its impact on the planet.
People engage in personal forms of enlightenment through the internet, televisions and radios, this is because seminars and workshops on climate change not organized frequently by various levels of government. Such seminars and workshops should be free to participants and the communiqué of such conferences be repeatedly published or broadcast on different mass media.
