ABSTRACT

 

This study examined the assessment of availability and utilization of emerging technologies in business education programmes in tertiary institutions. This study adopted the survey research method in order to achieve the purpose of the study and three research questions were raised. The sample size for the study comprised 84 business education students in 100, 200 and 400 level which were selected using proportionate sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire which was subjected to validity by the researcher’s supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of Mean () and Standard Deviation (SD). Based on the findings of the study, it was ascertained that some emerging technologies are available to a high extent. These emerging technologies helped students to acquire practical skills, facilitate knowledge sharing and makes learning more engaging.  Therefore, recommended that emerging technologies like video conferencing, tablets and smart boards should be made available in tertiary institutions for easing learning.
