ABSTRACT
This study assessed the availability and utilization of electronic learning technologies in business education programs in tertiary institutions. Related literatures of eminent scholars’ views on the study were reviewed. The design of the study is descriptive while the population comprised of 200 business education student in the university of Benin.
The sample size used was 100 respondents which comprised 100-400 level students of Business Education Students while a researchers’ questionnaire formed the instrument for data collection. The supervisor and other experts validated the instrument. Five research questions guided the study. A 20 item questionnaire was used to obtain information from the respondents.
The findings of this study revealed That innovative skills possessed by business education students in university of Benin can make them to be self-employed. There are institutional policies or guidelines that promote the integration of electronic learning technologies in business education. Infrastructural issues such as inadequate hardware or outdate software affect e-learning experience for students and instructors. Students' prior experiences with e-learning technologies influence their readiness to engage with these technologies in their courses. Students who engage with electronic learning technologies demonstrate improved learning outcomes and practical skills relevant to business education. Based on the findings revealed above, the following recommendations were made: Lecturers should be encouraged to fully utilize the available e-learning resources in teaching all Business Education courses, carrying out research and preparing students result. The management of tertiary institutions should ensure optimal functioning of platforms like learning management systems, open courseware, moodle, etc, which will create the opportunity for efficient administration, documentation, examination, feedback giving and reporting of classroom. Business education lecturers should prepare-books and e-journals so as to encourage the students in the reading of ebooks and e-journals.
