ABSTRACT
This study assessed the auditory status among undergraduate students in selected departments school of basic medical sciences University of Benin. The study adopted a descriptive cross sectional survey design and convenient sampling technique to select 200 respondents. A well-structured questionnaire was used as instruments of data collection based on the research objectives. The analysis of data was done using percentage and means ±SD; while test of hypotheses were tested using chi-square and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The level of significance was set at p<0.05. The IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24.0 was used in the analysis of data. The finding from this study showed that 10 (5%) had a poor hearing status (right ear), majority 185(92.5%) had a mild hearing status, 5(2.5%) had a good hearing status. Eighteen (9%) had a poor hearing status (left ear), majority 179(89.5%) had mild hearing status, 3(1.5%) had a good hearing status. Ten (5%) had hearing loss (right ear), majority 90(95%) had no hearing loss. Eighteen (9%) had hearing loss (left ear), majority 182(91%) had no hearing loss. Majority, One hundred and ninety eight (99%) had no hearing loss in both ears, 2(1%) had a hearing loss in both ears.
