ABSTRACT
Vulnerability in it’s diverse forms is an issue the world over today. This study assessed academic achievement of indigent agriculture university students in Edo State, Nigeria. data were collected from 150 vulnerable students by means of structured questionnaires, and analyzed using frequency count, mean and percentage and hypotheses were tested using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) and student t-test. The result showed that majority (65.4%) of the respondents were females with a mean age of 21 years. Most (97.3%) of the respondents were vulnerable in parents/guardian are poor. Vulnerability had highest effect on lateness to lectures (mean=3.25) and inadequate concentration to counseling in school (mean=3.21) support from family and friends (mean=3.20) the highest adjustment mechanism adopted by respondents had negative attitude practicing agriculture on graduate i.e went through emotional stress studying (mean=3.26) and were majority constraint by inadequate funding (mean=2.84) there was a significant relationship between characteristics of respondents and perceived effect of vulnerability on academic achievement (r=0.194, P<0.05). it was recommended that ministry of Youth and Women Affairs should initiate a social security programme/fund for vulnerable agriculture students.
