ABSTRACT
As declared by Guterres “[T]he threat of terrorism is real, dangerous, and unfortunately here for years to come….”, But it would be a mistake to assume that military operations alone will eradicate terrorism”204. This statement shows that terrorism is a big threat to any nation and it is unfortunate that Nigeria is not free from terrorism. However, it is surmountable if the legal and institutional framework discussed in this long essay are put into good use and amended where necessary, to address the situation. Despite efforts made to address terrorism in Nigeria, more is still needed to be done and the collective efforts of the national and international communities is non-negotiable as the law is only an instrument for social control.
