ABSTRACT
In recent years, the global energy landscape has witnessed a significant shift towards cleaner and more sustainable sources, with natural gas emerging as a pivotal player in this transition. Nigeria, endowed with abundant natural gas reserves, stands at the forefront of this evolution, presenting a unique case study for examining the multifaceted implications of natural gas utilization. This research project delves into the economic and geopolitical ramifications of Nigeria's natural gas sector, focusing on its impact on power generation, energy diversification efforts, and its role in the international energy markets. Through a comprehensive strategic analysis, this study aims to shed light on the opportunities and challenges associated with Nigeria's natural gas resources. By examining the interplay between domestic energy policies, infrastructure development, and international trade dynamics, it seeks to provide valuable insights into how Nigeria can harness its natural gas wealth to foster economic growth, enhance energy security, and strengthen its position in the global energy arena. Key areas of investigation include the role of natural gas in alleviating Nigeria's power generation constraints, its contribution to energy diversification objectives, and its implications for regional and global energy dynamics. Moreover, the study explores the geopolitical dimensions of Nigeria's natural gas sector, including its influence on diplomatic relations, regional cooperation initiatives, and geopolitical power dynamics in the West African region.
