ABSTRACT
This study assessed teacher’s awareness of the use of technology in teaching integrated science in secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. The study employed a surveyed research design and purposive sampling techniques to select fifty (50) respondents for the study. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data. The data collected were analyzed and presented in frequency and percentage distribution tables. The results of the study show that majority of the Integrated Science teachers in secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State do not use Information and Communication Technology as pedagogy for teaching. Based on the finding of the study, the following recommendations were made; The school management should deem it necessary to always organize training and retraining for their Integrated Science teachers in order to expose them to the use of information and communication technology as tool for teaching, there should be an assessment of the computers in the schools to determine which ones need to be repaired and which ones need to be replaced, government should be committed to full implementation of ICT in secondary schools by providing the necessary infrastructure, equipment, formulate policies and implementing the existing one if any, school management should ensure that alternative power source is provided to reduce the effect of unnecessary power failure that poses challenges to information and communication technology usage and teachers training institutions like institutes of education, colleges of education, National Teachers Institutes and so on should make ICTs course compulsory for all the teachers under training to make them familiar with the use of ICTs in teaching and learning.
