ABSTRACT
Recently most persons complain and experience ocular and visual symptoms during computer or phone use. Previous studies have reported a reduced blink rate during computer operation and suggested that this may account for some of the symptoms, such as dry eye and ocular fatigue. The aim of this study is to determine if computer screen viewing, produces changes in blink rate. This study will compare the blink rate when reading from your phone or computer and a hard copy material under equivalent reading condition METHOD: A total of 50 subject where used to perform a continuous 10 minutes reading task from a computer screen or a printed hard copy at a viewing distance of 50cm. identical text was used in the sessions, which matched the size and contrast. Immediately after the task, subjects was asked to complete a questionnaire regarding ocular symptoms experienced during the trial. DATA ANALYSIS: data obatained from this study was analysed using the statistical package for social science (SPSS) versiion 22.0.
