Summary

This project titled “Artist’s Block: A Hindrance to Creativity and Progression” is a visual representation of the stage or circumstance when the artist is no longer artistically productive and this experience is similar to the writer’s block concept. This situation is very hurtful and daunting to the artist and can impact the artist's life and career negatively. Therefore, a critique was made and the following findings were arrived at:

  1.          The study revealed that there is a significant positive relationship between procedural block, psychological block, procrastination block, distraction block and the creativity and progression of visual artists in Edo State, Nigeria.
  2.          It also found out that use of acrylic as a painting pigment is cheaper and more effective to this project compared to oil, that takes a longer time to dry and is more expensive.
  3.          Due to the fast drying nature of acrylic paint, this painting project was not executed in an impasto technique, but a particular layer would have to dry before another layer would be applied instead.
  4.          Finally, that the texture of the project is of a flat and smooth feel due to the painting technique being deployed.
