CONCLUSION

So far, this project has examined the impact of apprenticeship system on entrepreneurship development in Igboland.The project attempted a conceptualization of apprenticeship and entrepreneurship development, provided a background to Igbo’s system of apprenticeship, the impact of apprenticeship on entrepreneurship development in Igbo land as well as challenges of apprenticeship on entrepreneurship development in Igbo land.The project enriched the body of literature thereby expanding knowledge in the area of apprenticeship and entrepreneurship development in Nigeria. The project showed that entrepreneurship development has been the popular prescription for reducing the increasing rate of unemployment in Nigeria. The project is of immense benefit to different categories of people and they include the government, the practising and prospective entrepreneurs, the students, researchers and the general public. Entrepreneurship as it is called is an issue of discourse in Nigeria because of the unemployment situation which cannot be addressed by mere campaign of words of mouth. It requires the combined efforts of both individuals at the grass root, the government of the country in particular and the world at large to formulate a lasting strategy to curb this unemployment through entrepreneurship.

At the grace root level, apprenticeship has been develop and key to be one that can be used to ameliorate the increase and effect of unemployment. This is because the grass root people in Nigeria realize that in the absent of government incentive such as grant, loan, employment and others, apprenticeship is the closest solution or instrument. Apprenticeship is directly related to entrepreneurship and innovation. This chapter examines the contribution of apprenticeship to apprentice entrepreneur, the challenges of apprenticeship in Nigeria and in Igbo land. The chapter also examines the profiles of selected Igbo entrepreneur.
