ABSTRACT
Water being an essential basic amenities in the life of men. Many activities have been done in treating it to make it suitable for different purpose. The purpose of this study is to investigate the capability of Chitosan as a flocculant for water treatment. The properties, preparation, relevance of chitosan and it application. Majorly, Chitosan is used in the treatment of river water. The river water serves as effluent is first tested for it Turbidity, pH, Electrical Conductivity Chemical Oxygen Demand, Biochemical oxygen Demand, Total Dissolved Solid, Total suspended Solid, Nitrates, Sulphate, Phosphate, Phospate, Chloride. The water was then treated with chitosan and tested later for Turbidity, pH, CoD, TSS, TDS. The best concentration of chitosan for treatment was then observed.
