ABSTRACT

Tax transactions and processes are generally burdensome to tax authorities in terms of management and to tax payers in terms of accurate assessment. Tax management which involves registration, assessment and collection is plagued mostly with lack of transparency as participants often involved in fraudulent activities. The current approach requires so much human interference, this raises expenses and leaves insufficient time for other significant operations for the tax teams and officials. The age of the internet creates a totally different format for the tax world. It not only shifts the relationship between taxpayers and tax officers, it also changes how tax records are submitted, payments made, and information stored. Blockchain technology provides for transparency, speed of computation, protection, security and trust which is required for an efficient tax system. This research project proposed a blockchain based model for tax administration.
