ABSTRACT

The medicinal plants are god’s gift to cure a number of diseases among the living organisms. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the Antibacterial efficacy of Gbogbonise and EkiemaDenik booster against pathogens of public health importance. Samples of the herbal remedy were purchased from Edo and Lagos State, Nigeria. Following standard laboratory procedures, the antibacterial activities and phytochemicals constituents were determined. The result of the phytochemical constituent of the herbal remedy include ssaponins, tanins, flavonoid, phenolic compound, glycoside and reducing sugar. Agar well diffusion method was used to determine the antimicrobial activities of the herbal remedy against Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus), Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Shigella, Salmonella sp., Enterobacter sp., and Pseudomonas sp.), and one fungus (Candida albicans).
