Diabetes Mellitus It is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood, either due to inadequate production of insulin by the pancreas or the body's inability to use insulin effectively. Diabetes-induced renal damage is a common complication of uncontrolled hyperglycemia, leading to innovative kidney dysfunction. The aim of this study is to investigate the antihyperglycemic and renoprotective effects of a bi-herbal leaf aqueous extraction in streptozotocin-induced hyperglycemic rats. Male Wistar rats, were randomly divided into five groups. The animals were administered with graded doses (50, 100, 200 mg/kg). Negative control received water and food, positive control received pharmaceutical anti-diabetic agent (glibenclamide '10 mg/kg'), while the treated groups received (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg) of the aqueous extract orally for 7 days, the blood glucose levels was checked daily. The results obtained from this study showed that the bi- herbal leaf aqueous extract elicited an inhibitory effect in diabetic and kidneys indices in rats across graded doses of the extract when compared with the control groups. These findings suggest that the bi-herbal leaf aqueous extraction may have potential as a natural remedy for managing diabetes and protecting against. Further studies are warranted to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of action and explore its potential clinical applications and its long-term safety and efficacy in human subjects.
