ABSTRACT

Diarrhoea refers to the expulsion of watery stools more than twice or thrice within 24 hours. Traditional remedies are largely underutilized in healthcare. Innovations and perspectives from traditional medicine can positively impact the economy and public health. This study assesses the antidiarrheal properties of a polyherbal extract in Swiss mice . Diarrhoea was induced using castor oil. Characteristics like stool consistency, frequency and duration were observed compared to the untreated group. These findings indicate the significant anti-diarrheal activity of the polyherbal extract. However, further investigations are necessary to elucidate its molecular mechanisms and establish its long-term safety and efficacy in humans.
