ABSTRACT

The study was carried out to determine “Analyzing the effect of parental involvement on students' academic achievement in esan west local government area, edo state.” The primary purpose of this study is to identify the extent in which parental involvement influence students' academic achievement in Esan West Local Government. The specific forms of parental involvement that correlate most strongly with improved academic outcomes. Socio-economic factors that mediate or moderate the relationship between parental involvement and academic achievement

The population used for this study includes fifteen (15) secondary schools in Esan west local government area with a total number of 3,600 students. A sample size of 5 schools was selected using the simple random sampling technique, while twenty (25) students were chosen from each sampled school making one hundred (125) students as respondents using the convenient sampling technique.

This study was conducted to assess Analyzing the effect of parental involvement on students' academic achievement in Esan west local government area, Edo state. Three research questions were raised. This study made use of the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study consisted One hundred and twenty five (125) students which is also the sample respondents for the study. The instrument for data collection for this study was a self-constructed close-ended questionnaire titled “Influence Of Parental Involvement On Students' Academic Achievement In Esan West Local Government. The test-retest reliability method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and the process yielded an index of 0.81 Data obtained from the study were analysed using mean and standard deviation. The following recommendation were made: Schools should encourage regular communication between parents and teachers to keep them informed about their child's progress, areas of improvement, and any challenges they may be facing academically. Organize workshops and seminars for parents to educate them on effective ways to support their child's learning at home, including homework help, study habits, and creating a conducive learning environment. Encourage parents to actively participate in school activities such as parent-teacher meetings, volunteering opportunities, and school events to foster a sense of community and involvement in their child's education.
