ABSTRACT

This study is set out to investigate the analysis of the hygienic condition of canteen food services. Specifically, the study sought to investigate the impact of training on food safety and hygieneon the hygienic condition of canteen food; examine significant relationship between personal hygiene of food handlers and hygienic conditions of canteen food services; and examine the barriers of food safety practices and it impact on canteen hygiene. Relevant data were drawn from a sample of 100 selected staff and students of the University of Benin using a well-structured questionnaire. Chi-square was used to check the hypotheses. The result of the findings revealed that there is a strong positive impact of training on food safety and hygiene on the hygienic condition of canteen food.
