ANALYSIS OF PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTICIPATION IN PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN OREDO LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF EDO STATE.

ABSTRACT

         This research study investigates Public Private Participation in public secondary schools, with a focus on Oredo Local Government Area. The objective of this study was to understand the contributions of public private participation in public secondary schools such as provision of infrastructural facilities, financial provisions, improving Quality of education and increasing access to Education. The research employed a descriptive survey approach which allows for the use of questionnaires administered to 100 teachers in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area. The Data gathered through questionnaire were analyzed using Descriptive Statistics. The data collected for the study was analyzed using frequency tables and simple percentages.  Its reliability was established at 0.07 using the cronbach Alpha method.        

            Thus, based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn that; the funding and management of educational institutions cannot be done by the government alone which calls for the need for public private participation in public secondary schools in Nigeria.  Some of the recommendation suggested by the researcher encouraged the government to establish a collaboration with private institutions in the management and supervision of public schools in Nigeria.
