ABSTRACT
This research study is on the analysis of cost of extracurricular activities in private secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. Factors such as cost, school facilities, pay to play method and Location were examined to know their effects on extracurricular activities in private secondary school students.
Five (5) research questions were raised. The study adopted survey research design. The population of the study comprised of 130 students taken from five secondary schools in Ovia North East Local Government Area in Edo State. A questionnaire titled ''ANALYSIS OF COST OF EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES IN PRIVATE SECONDARY SCHOOLS (ACECAPSS)'' was used.
The results were analyzed by means of simple percentages. The findings of the study revealed that high cost of extracurricular activities negatively affect students participation in extracurricular activities. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that gender variation, socio economic background, pay to play method and school location influence the cost of extracurricular activities. Recommendations were made to address the issues of cost, socio economic background and students participation in extracurricular activities.
