ABSTRACT
This study, investigates the possibility of using New Media as alternative platform for promoting Theatre Productions. It is anchored on the Media Morphs Theory and the system analysis theory practice in Edo State, Nigeria. Thus, the population estimate of this was 400, was selected because being one that is essentially involved in the open and distance learning; its members are in good position to provide the research with the primary data required for analysis in Edo State. A 16 item questionnaire was used to generate data from the Sample. Data generated were analyzed and presented with the aid of likert tables, simple percentage. Findings show that Digital Technology and New Media have been occasionally identified as New Entertainment platforms that are increasing competing with and displacing of the live Theatre Productions. By the same token, proponents of the Media Morph sis Theory argue that in the that face of the daunting challenge, theatre’s salutation lives in its ability leverage the tools and possibilities of the new media. The advents of digital technology and New Media have been occasionally identified as among the challenges of the Theatre; that is, Stage Productions. It was therefore recommended that to achieve its goal the study shall analyze selected New Media forms in terms of their properties and how these could be deployed to better promote Theatre.
