ABSTRACT
On average people fall ill at least three times a year with this estimation rising yearly, and most of the time these people that are ill have no way to know what hospital to go to or even how to get there. This more often leads to people going the wrong direction or to a hospital that doesn’t possess readily available services for their particular illness, which in turn may lead to death in an emergency. The goal of this Hospital Location System is to create an application that can be easily accessed, and who’s implementation will provide directions, traffic updates and routes, as well as other hospital users reviews about a given hospital using google maps. The aim of this research is to provide an online system that helps its users to get the right directions to different health centers using Google maps. In achieving this aim, the tasks of designing and developing an application software that will provide a system that users can access whenever they need to find a hospital in their city, reduce mortality rate in emergencies, find the closest hospitals with the fastest routes and an estimated arrival time were laid out. This research takes a technical approach for analyzing and designing the application, the methodology used is SSADM (Structured system analysis and design methodology). HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, PHP, SQL AND JQUERY have all been implemented and utilized in this system to provide solutions. The reason for making this application web based is because it is an independent platform and as such it will cater to a variety of devices. The proposed system additionally presents automatic navigation with providing directions to users with the optimal path between start point and destination as well as ascertaining the driving duration with distance. This study will also be of use to medical practitioners and patients alike. The expected result of this project is an Online Hospital Location System that will provide the routes, directions, traffic updates and see other hospital users’ reviews about the hospital on Google map.
