ABSTRACT

          The study investigated the challenges faced by Education History student in tertiary institutions, using University of Benin as a case study. Six research questions were raised to examine the study.

          The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study show that there are three hundred and sixty six (366) students in Education History, the Department of Educational Foundations, University of Benin. A sample of hundred (100) students from Education History, the Department of Educational Foundations, University of Benin was used for this study. An analysis of data was done using closed-ended questionnaire, with four-point Likert scale (Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree).

          The findings from the study include that unstable academic calendar can pose a threat to students making them graduate later than they anticipated. it was concluded that Education History students of the University of Benin may not perform as required due to the challenges being faced during higher studies.  It was therefore recommended among others that government and Academic Unions should but on ground measures to check incessant industrial actions in the educational system.
