ABSTRACT

Title: "Assessing the Awareness and Adoption of Green Building Practices in Edo State"

This study investigates the awareness and adoption of green building practices within the construction industry of Edo State, Nigeria. The research seeks to shed light on the current state of knowledge, utilization, and challenges hindering the widespread acceptance of sustainable construction methods in the region.

To achieve this, a comprehensive questionnaire survey was conducted among 55 professionals in the construction industry, including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and builders. The questionnaire assessed their awareness of green building principles and their involvement in projects that incorporate sustainable practices.

The findings reveal a moderate level of awareness among respondents, with media exposure and educational programs playing pivotal roles in disseminating information about green construction. However, challenges such as cost constraints, limited awareness, and regulatory barriers have impeded the full-scale adoption of green building practices.

Notably, the study identifies opportunities for improvement, including the need for targeted educational initiatives, increased government support, and industry collaborations to promote sustainable construction in Edo State. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and professionals looking to advance green building practices in the region, ultimately contributing to the state's sustainable development goals.
