ABSTRACT
Childhood, especially the earliest times, are a time of intriguing vulnerability for children. This is firstly due to the fact that these infants are still adjusting to the reality of a different world and their immune system is still at a developing and tender stage. Infant mortality rate has remained a major public health concern and the World Health Organization has stated and continued to re-affirm the fact that infant immunization has been a major contributor to the gradual eradication of infant mortality, as it has prevented millions of infants from contracting deadly diseases and by extension saved millions of lives. Vaccines reduce risk of contracting a disease by working with the body’s natural defence system to build protection. Vaccine preventable diseases once contracted can have very terrible outcomes including causing permanent disabilities and even death. The general public should therefore be enlightened on the dangers infants are exposed to when not immunized in order to help them halt such maladaptive behaviours and take the immunization routine seriously and secure a healthy life for their infants.
