ABSTRACT

The investigation on the evaluation of learning environment of Biology Students in Egor local government area, Edo state, three (3) research questions served as it's guidelines, and it used a descriptive survey study design. It sought to find out What are the learning facilities for teaching biology in Egor local government area? What are the perceptions of biology students towards their learning environment Are the learning facilities available adequate for teaching biology?.

The study employed a sample of Biology students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State and a total of (150) respondents which were collected from six different Secondary schools. The researcher developed questionnaire titled Questionnaire on "evaluation of learning environment of Biology Students" was used as the data collection tool. There are thirteen (13) items on the questionnaire. To analyze the data collected, descriptive statistics such as mean and frequency count were used.

The study find out that the perceptions of biology students towards their learning environment can greatly impact their motivation, engagement, and success in Biology. It was suggested that Overcrowding in classrooms should be discouraged. Government should provide adequate and conducive classroom for effective learning to take place. Government should ensure that well  equipped, furnished, and comfortable library, must be present in all schools as it motivates students to study. Also schools with dilapidating library structures should be renovated .
