ABSTRACT
Nigeria would be a better place if and only if we take to heart this Latin phrase “sic parvis Magna” which can be translated as “thus great things come from small things” because we’ve in one way or the other gone against this doctrine we can see that Nigeria has been less productive in producing leaders that are visionary maybe this is as a result of no training or maybe the training of both mind and body has been neglected by individuals who didn’t think they could be powerful people in our country that has gotten our society to be filled with minds and leaders who don’t have the people at heart and this peril has affected Nigeria development as a nation. If there is no good structure and system it’ll be so hard for us as a nation to have any social change or development as a sovereign state. Awolowo in his own pragmatic mind came up with a democratic socialism which would help take Nigeria out of his peril and from his work we could see his glamour is about some basic things which include mental magnitude where he believe in a sound mind in a sound body which was the sole reason why he brought programs like free educating for all and free health care for all. His socialism is not in any way related to Marxist socialism but it’s called Democratic Socialism. To him anyone who should lead should have cultivate a mind that’s unlike others and a character that could make him thrive even if the world is tearing apart. His Democratic Socialism center on welfares which is the only way to give Nigeria the best foundation as a sovereign state if this theory is acted upon rather than being an idea in a book on a dusty shelf.
