ABSTRACT

The study focused on the role of the audio broadcast media in promoting ethical journalism practices. A study of Kennis Fm, Lagos. The objectives of the study were to find out the existing ethical standards followed by the audio broadcast media to ensure journalistic integrity, determine the challenges faced by the audio broadcast media in promoting ethical journalism practices and to ascertain the role of the audio broadcast media in promoting ethical journalism practices. In terms of the research methodology, the survey research design was employed to gather data for the study. Findings of the study also revealed journalists at Kennis FM, Lagos, are committed to upholding ethical standards in journalism, including objectivity, truth, fairness, and integrity. Findings also revealed that despite economic pressures, Journalists of Kennis FM, Lagos strive to address conflicts of interest and prioritize transparent and accurate reporting over sensationalism. Based on the findings, the researcher concluded that journalists at Kennis FM, Lagos, safeguard the integrity of their station. The researcher therefore recommended among other things that regular training sessions and workshops for journalists to deepen their understanding of ethical principles and practices should be implemented. It was also recommended that journalists should be encouraged to disclose any potential conflicts transparently
