ABSTRACT

This study was designed to elicit “An Assessment of the Importance of Health Education in Prevention of Diseases”. To achieve this, three research questions were formulated during the course of the study.

To explore these research questions, descriptive statistics of frequency counts and simple percentages was used for the study and a sectioned designed questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The sample size for the study consisted of fifty women attending anti natal in UBTH. The instrument was validated by three experts from the department of health, safety and environmental education, University of Benin.

Based on the findings, recommendations were made. There is need to improve the methods of instruction used to teach health education contents. Health education students should be adequately trained to teach all levels of the educational system. The need for the graduating health education students to be financially motivated during the course of study. Health education students should be adequately trained to teach all levels of the educational system.
