ABSTRACT
The study examined the an assessment of the roles of adult education programmes in poverty alleviation for enhanced livelihood for adults in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, five (5) research questions were raised to guide the study.
The sample for the study consists of one hundred (100) respondents which were selected using the simple random sampling method. Data was collected with the aid of questionnaire. The validity and reliability of the instrument were ascertained using the exert judgment and test-retest procedures. Simple percentage and frequency count were used to analyse collected data.
Based on the findings of the study, adult education programmes when effectively implemented can help to reduce poverty in Nigeria. Thus adult education programmes must be properly channeled to achieve the required objectives in the learners. The study however recommended that government should create massive sensitization and awareness campaign on the viability and importance of adult education towards combating poverty in the nation.
