This study is aimed at investigating the challenges of the elderly in Uselu Community in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. A survey research designed was deployed for this study using a structured questionnaire. 250 respondents participated in this study. However, only 200 questionnaires were returned and found to be useful for analysis. A 4- point Likert Scale was developed and validated to collect information from the respondents. The data collected was analyzed with basic descriptive statistics such as frequency and percentage supported with tables and figures. The core findings from the results obtained showed the unique challenges confronting the elderly in Uselu Community in Egor Local Government Area are inability to perform basic activities of daily living effectively such as bathing, dressing, using toilet, feeding and eating and walking, that the physiological challenges affecting the elderly in Uselu Community in Egor Local Government Area are depression, isolation, grief, fund scarcity, inability to perform instrumental activities of daily living such as shopping, house cleaning, laundry and taking medication and that the physiological challenges associated with health status of the elderly in Uselu Community in Egor Local Government Area are eye problems, hearing problems, high blood pressure, loss of memory (dementia) and diabetes. The study recommend that future research work should be carried out to investigate the effect of non-payment of retirees pension salary on health of old people in Edo State, Nigeria because field investigation revealed that there have been instances of nonpayment of pension salary that have led to complicated health of old persons in Uselu Community in Egor Local Government Area.
