SUMMARY
From the questions asked and analyzed it was discovered that for most student respondent, not only have them presently occupied their present hostel for within two years and less, a large percentage of the student respondents still attributed that they moved out of their previous hostel majorly due to poor maintenance of the hostels which is also highlighted as a challenge faced in residential property management in Ekosodin community.
When asked the challenges they faced in their residences, the student respondents answered that maintenance was by most the major challenge they are faced with, other challenges were; Â incessant financial contributions, poor infastructural facilities, Poor Tenant and land lord relationship, external issuses, Difficulty in accessing water, Increase in house rent and lots more. Although maintenance is the major challenges faced by students in their various residences, it was also shockingly discovered that a large percentage of these respondent attested to the fact that they do have maintenance personel who is suppose to be in charge of the hostel maintenance. Apparently these hostel maintenance personel are not thorough in their duties and as such results in the gradual deterioration of the hostels which unchecked over time because a major challenge in such residences.
Furthermore the research findings discovered that although most hostel residences had contractual aggreements like the tenant lease agreement mostly in written forms, the student respondents were still not given such lease agreements upon payment of rent. It shows that most landlords and caretakers do not respect contractual agreements and this pose as a challenge to contractual agreements in residential property management.
Finally the respondents were asked to rate the challenges faced in residential property management in Ekosodin community, of which these challenges were coined from the research literature review and fom the respondents personal experiences. The respondets rated all the following listed below as the challenges, and these includes; Maintenance and repairs, improper usage of facilities by occupants, lack of amenities, lack of timely response to maintenance request, Incessant payments of service charges, population of occupants, non-payment of rents, rent increment/issues, landlord/tenants acts outside of lease agreement, and location of the hostel.
