ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to investigate the administrative problems of sport participation among undergraduate students in university of Benin Five research questions were raised and a stratified sampling technique was used to select fifty five (55) students which was drawn from the sports center in the University of Benin. The data were collected with questionnaire instruments and analyzed using simple percentage. It was revealed that poor remuneration of student athlete, inadequate funding for sport, lack of proper facilities and equipment are administrative problems of sport participation among undergraduate students. Further findings of the study revealed that the lack of remuneration for student athlete will lead to a reduction in the number of students participating in sport in the university of Benin and also increased the remuneration for undergraduate student athlete is a source of motivation towards sport participation in the university of Benin. More findings made it known that inadequate funding for sports and improper scheduling between academic classes and sporting activities will negatively affect students’ interest in sport and also that unavailable sport equipment, facilities and supplies will deter students’ participation in sport in the University of Benin.
