ABSTRACT

Ten weeks trial was carried out to investigate the effect of some phytogenic additives (black pepper, red pepper, turmeric, and ginger) in broiler chickens on the blood serum metabolite with a total of One hundred (100) broiler chicks. The birds were then randomly placed to six different pens and were given five different oral treatments (Tr1 for tumeric 1, Tr2 for ginger, Tr3 for red pepper, Tr4 for black pepper, Tr5 for control,)and fed ad libitum without the additives. After the experiment, blood was collected and taken for analysis. The experiment was laid out in a complete randomized design with five treatments (Tr1, Tr2. TR3, Tr4,Tr5). The result obtained showed the effect of T1(tumeric), T2 (ginger), T3 (Red pepper ), T4 (black pepper), T5 (control) administered to broiler chicken in Table 1. Shows that there is no significant difference (p<0.05) in glucose, Urea, cl-, but there is significant difference (p<0.05) in Na+ , K+ , HCO3. In Table 2.,the effect of T1, T2, T3 T4, T5 on the lipid profile of the broiler chicken shows no significant difference (p<0.05) in the HDL-chol, LDL-chol, but shows that there is significant difference (p<0.05) in trigly and Total cholesterol inT1 (Turmeric) and T5 (control). Table 3 shows the effect of the treatment on the liver of the broiler chicken, there is no significant difference (p<0.05) in Total Bil, C.Bil, but there is significant difference (p<0.05) in AST , ALT and ALP . In Table 4., The effect of the treatments on the blood protein shows that there is no significant difference (p<0.05) in Globulin and Total protein but there is significant difference in Albumin.
