ABSTRACT
Literature as an art form recaptures the realities of life and its complexities in any aspect of society that is being represented. Thus, this essay critically interrogates the struggles of the African woman in Ayobami Adebayo’s Stay with Me and Amma Darko’s Faceless. This Essay uses the qualitative research method and critical textual analysis to demonstrate feminine struggle through the situations Yejide, Maa Tsuru, Fofo, Baby T and Kabria have to endure.
This study is further foreground to explore and portray how women overcome the various challenges thrown their way. This study is not merely a list of the struggles of the African woman but also a means to highlight the resilience of the African woman. The exploration of how society pressure affects the emotional and mental well-being of African women is also examined.
