ABSTRACT
The recognition, promotion, and protection of the rights of the child in every sphere is very topical. This is because children are subjects of human rights and a plethora of laws have been enacted to protect them. However, most of these laws are not recognized, thereby exposing children to diverse violence. This essay is a wake-up call to all and sundry to recognition, promotion, and enforcement of the rights of the child in every sphere. The essay examines the legal frameworks for the protection of child’s rights as well as analyzes factors that exacerbate violence on the child. This essay adopt doctrinal method of essay writing and make use of primary and secondary sources which includes textbooks, journal articles, case laws, internet cites, etc. The essay through the doctrinal method observed that, though legal and institutional frameworks have been put in place to combat the abuse of the right of the child, the child still faces direct and indirect discrimination that undermine its rights. The protecting of the child is very crucial in every society; this is because their protection is a precedent for the growth and development of any nation. The essay concludes by making recommendations for viable strategies to be put in place to protect children from violence. Effective collaboration between the government and nongovernmental organization will enhance the rights of the child.
